Half Man Half Tree

Meet the “Tree Man” That Grows Branches on His Body (Half Man Half Tree)

The Tree Man

Dede Koswara, known in his native Indonesia as “Tree Man,” is a 35 year old male and lives in Indonesia with a tragic condition given the medical term: Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis. De De’s condition began as a teenager when he cut his knee and neglected to seek help even after it began to develop root like warts where the cut originated. Soon after, these roots continued spreading eventually covering his entire body leaving the worst for his hands and feet. Therefore this condition has left him unable to perform simple and basic tasks in everyday life let alone a job needed to support himself. He depended and still depends on his parents for help and support while his wife had deserted him as this tragic incident worsened. This left De De alone, leading a poor and very difficult life. However, an American Doctor saw De De’s struggle on the discovery channel with a documentary devoted to De De’s conditions and troubles. This doctor offered De De a life threatening operation that could potentially curehis condition. De De was more than willing to except the doctor’s proposition. In the second video you will see the progress of this operation. However in the third video, you will see that local doctors have attempted to remove these warts and root like growths on their own; unfortunately, in three weeks time they grew back. The doctor in the third video also sees De De’s condition as an unstoppable infection and acknowledges De De’s liver not being in good condition. On the bright side the second video shows how doses of vitamin A help De De tame the “unstoppable Infection”.
